Kaleidoscope Sessions on Affirmative Action and Multi-Culturalism

The PDC sponsored two events utilizing an innovative method called Kaleidoscope. The events focused on controversial social issues and engaged participants in alternative forms of communication for managing conflict. Participants in the Kaleidoscope sessions were “interviewed” using dialogue question-asking techniques, and received feedback and additional questions from participants who worked in small dialogue groups and reflecting team.

Interfaith Peacebuilding Institute for Maluku Tengah, Indonesia

The PDC led a five-day dialogue with participants in Indonesia to create a common vision for community restoration and reconciliation. Prompted by a four-year conflict between Christian and Muslim communities in Maluku, Indonesia, forty enemies – religious leaders from the province – took part in this transformative dialogue.

A Time to Talk: A Cupertino Community Forum

The PDC designed and facilitated a community forum on demographic and diversity issues in the community, part of a follow-up effort to the Cupertino Voices and Visions Project. The Forum provided an opportunity for open and honest communication, allowing residents to be candid in their views without being judged.

Cupertino Community Project: Voices and Visions

The PDC flagship civic engagement project developed over a five-year period involving close to 100 community events with residents, elected official and city staff. Divided into four phases, the first phase focused on identifying issues that were important to community members. After a series of interviews, facilitated group dialogue meetings, and large community forums, the final phase focused on institutionalizing dialogic forms of communication between and among City government, residents and demographic groups in the community.
