The PDC designed and participated in a live, interactive national video conference to explore better forms of communication in conflict situations. The PDC partnered with KCC International (London) for this event.
Diversity and Conflict Management
The PDC sponsored two events utilizing an innovative method called Kaleidoscope. The events focused on controversial social issues and engaged participants in alternative forms of communication for managing conflict. Participants in the Kaleidoscope sessions were “interviewed” using dialogue question-asking techniques, and received feedback and additional questions from participants who worked in small dialogue groups and reflecting team.
The PDC led a five-day dialogue with participants in Indonesia to create a common vision for community restoration and reconciliation. Prompted by a four-year conflict between Christian and Muslim communities in Maluku, Indonesia, forty enemies – religious leaders from the province – took part in this transformative dialogue.
The PDC designed and facilitated a community forum on demographic and diversity issues in the community, part of a follow-up effort to the Cupertino Voices and Visions Project. The Forum provided an opportunity for open and honest communication, allowing residents to be candid in their views without being judged.
