The PDC continues its ongoing collaboration with the City of San Jose’s Neighborhood Services Commission and Human Rights Commission. Both of these groups, composed of community volunteers, are undergoing a restructuring process as the City revamps and revitalizes all of its Commissions and Boards. The PDC worked with the Neighborhood Services Commission to help them develop a mission, vision and work plan. With the Human Rights Commission we have been designing and facilitating a series of meetings to assist them in combining that Commission with the City’s Disabilities Advisory Commission and Domestic Violence Advisory Committee.

The PDC recently designed and facilitated a public meeting with community members to generate ideas and prioritize options for an historic building in San Jose. The building, called the Kelley House, is a designated landmark because of its architecture and historical significance to the local region. The City of San Jose enlisted the services of the PDC to give community members a voice in determining whether to rebuild the structure or replace it with something different.
